Operations
Operational Security is simply the process and mindset of preventing information that could benefit them or harm you, falling into a competitor’s hands. This type of security is typically used in varying degrees by Governments and large organisations, but it if you have competitors in your business, operation security could be equally important.
Separation of Duties
One method of increasing operational security is to make sure that more than one person is required to complete any process which could be potentially open to abuse. This not only protects individuals should information be leaked, but also means that how ever information is released, the whole picture should never be given away.
Ideally, the process should be split up so that the information which any individual could abuse would not be of significant interest to your competitors, however, practically this may not be possible, and there will almost always be the need for a manager to have an overview of the entire process.
